O' Sole Mio is a restaurant that, as its slogan says, represents the tradition of pizza in Mérida and has been offering a wide variety of excellent Italian dishes since 1988. This year, after a long time, it renovated all its facilities and now offers a sensory experience in every way.
I recently had the opportunity to experience the new offerings at this restaurant, which was one of my favorites to visit with my sister during our college days. I wanted to discover if they still retained the flavor and exquisiteness that made the place a favorite among Merida residents and visitors, and I was pleasantly surprised.
O' Sole Mio only retained the location of the old restaurant, which is perfect because it is right in the center of the city, specifically on 3rd Avenue, between 26th and 27th Streets, house number 26-50.
Upon entering, you walk through a small hallway that seems to transport you to another dimension, and that's literally the case, because when you enter the main room, you can't help but be amazed by the vibrant design, full of lights, bright colors, and many elements that make you forget that this was once an old colonial-style mansion.
Its décor strikes a balance between retro, vintage, and modern, where, in addition to the food, art takes center stage.
Starting with these sculptures that we find throughout the restaurant, they are metal sculptures that look like pirates, which I loved, even though I didn't get to photograph many of them.
But in addition to the sculptures, there are lots of incredible photos that transport you back in time. They have a huge collection of photographs of products, vintage cars, places, and celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Mario Moreno, the popular Cantinflas.
Something innovative and fun about this new version of O'sole mio is that each table has a different board game, from checkers to mazes, chess, ludo, and many more, which makes the wait more bearable and shorter.
O'sole is a restaurant divided into several different areas. It has a VIP room, ideal for events, the main dining room where we chose our table, other rooms with celebrity themes, a retro room, and a country room. Every corner is the perfect backdrop for capturing the moment; without a doubt, you'll have plenty to admire while you wait for your meal to arrive at your table.
The food
Pizza reigns supreme at this gastronomic establishment, but they also offer a variety of gourmet dishes, lasagnas, pastries, different types of pasta, and chicken in a basket. A range of delicious options that are as vibrant as the restaurant's design.
My son and I wanted pizza, so we opted for individual pizzas: ham and cheese for my son and mushroom and corn for me. My husband wanted chicken, so he ordered a meal that came with French fries and coleslaw.
The wait was over, and without realizing it, they imagined how much fun I was having taking pictures. It was great that there weren't many people there at the time, but little by little, the restaurant filled up.
When the pizzas arrived at the table, the aroma and appearance spoke for themselves—they were incredibly delicious. The ingredients blended together so perfectly that every bite was an explosion of flavor and cheese.
My husband was expecting less chicken and was surprised by the generous portion he was served. It was one of the best broiler-style chickens I've ever tasted, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The crispy potatoes and salad were delicious.
Our visit to O'sole mio was a great family experience. We received excellent service, the food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the art, design, and good vibes that permeate this restaurant.

O´ Sole Mio es un restaurante que, como su eslogan lo dice, representa la tradición de la pizza en Mérida y desde 1988 ofrece una gran variedad de platos italianos de excelente calidad. Este año, después de mucho tiempo, renovó todas sus instalaciones y ahora ofrece una experiencia sensorial en todos los sentidos.
Hace poco tuve la oportunidad de conocer la nueva experiencia que ofrece este restaurante que era uno de mis favoritos para ir a comer con mi hermana en nuestra época universitaria. Quería descubrir si aún conservaban esa sazón y exquisitez que hacía que el lugar fuera uno de los predilectos de merideños y visitantes y me lleve una enorme sorpresa.
O´ Sole Mio solo conservó del antiguo restaurante su ubicación, la cual es perfecta porque queda en pleno centro de la ciudad, específicamente en la Av. 3, entre la calle 26 y 27, casa 26-50.
Al entrar, debes atravesar un pequeño pasillo que parece que te transporta a otra dimensión y es que literalmente es así, porque al entrar al salón principal no puedes dejar de sorprenderte por ese diseño vibrante, lleno de luces, de colores vivos y muchos elementos, que te hacen olvidar esa antigua casona de estilo colonial que era antes.
Su decoración mantiene un balance entre lo retro, lo vintage y lo moderno, donde, además de la comida, el arte se convierte en uno de sus protagonistas.
Comenzando por este tipo de esculturas que encontramos en todos los ambientes del restaurante, son esculturas metálicas, que parecen piratas, que me encantaron y eso que me faltaron muchas por fotografiar.
Pero además de las esculturas, encontramos un montón de fotos increíbles, que te traslada, al pasado. Tienen una colección enorme de fotografías de productos, de carros antiguos, de lugares y famosos como Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe o Mario Moreno, el popular Cantinflas.
Algo innovador y divertido que tiene esta nueva versión de O´sole mio está en sus mesas y es que cada una de ellas tiene un juego de mesa diferente, desde tableros de damas, laberintos, ajedrez, ludo y muchas más, esto hace que la espera sea más llevadera y corta.
O´sole es un restaurante que está dividido en varios ambientes. Cuenta con un salón vip, ideal para eventos, el salón principal donde elegimos nuestra mesa y otras con temáticas de famosos, el salón retro y un salón country. Cada rincón es el fondo perfecto para capturar el momento; sin duda, tienes mucho que admirar mientras el plato llega a tu mesa.
La comida
La pizza es la reina de esta casa gastronómica, pero también ofrecen distintos platos gourmet, lasañas, pastichos, distintos tipos de pastas y pollo a la canasta. Un abanico de opciones deliciosas que deben estar tan vibrantes como el diseño del lugar.
Mi hijo y yo queríamos comer pizza, así que optamos por pizzas individuales: la de mi niño de jamón y queso y la de champiñón con maíz para mí. Mi esposo quería comer pollo, así que pidió un servicio que venía acompañado de papas fritas y ensalada coleslaw.
La espera terminó, sin darme cuenta, se imaginaron lo mucho que me divertí tomando fotos. ¡Qué bueno, que en ese momento no había muchas personas!, pero poco a poco, el restaurante se llenó.
Cuando las pizzas llegaron a la mesa, el aroma que desprendía y su apariencia hablaba por sí sola, estaban increíblemente deliciosas. Los ingredientes se integraron de una manera tan perfecta que cada mordida era una explosión llena de sabor y mucho queso.
Mi esposo, esperaba menos cantidad de pollo y se sorprendió por la ración generosa que le sirvieron, uno de los mejores pollos a la broster que he probado, la sazón y el punto de cocción perfecta. Las papas crocantes y la ensalada, una delicia.
Nuestra visita a O´sole mio, fue una gran experiencia en familia. Nos brindaron una excelente atención, la comida estuvo deliciosa y pasamos un rato ameno disfrutando del arte, el diseño y la buena vibra que está impregnada en este restaurante.
Si en algún momento están de visita por Mérida, los invito a conocer O´sole mio, les encantará la experiencia.
