Hello, friends especially foodies!
Meet me again Devy and this time still about my foodie journey in Lampung. I was a bit busy recently so i am so happy to have this opportunity again to meet you all guys and sharing one of my best foodie experience.
Well, first let me flash back to our vacation experience in Lampung. After spending few days there with lots of joy and laughter, finally it was our time to go back to my home city, Jakarta. It was not the end our vacation yet, why? It is simply because we still had more time to have a contunation of vacation to Bandung with my godmother. And, that day, we came to the airport earlier because I got an official announcement from both the travel apps and also the flight official number that our flight would be early to fly.
So there we were, it was just around 2 pm something when we arrived to the airport and guess what? When we put on the luggages, the official flight attendant said that our flight would be delayed. Haha, what a surprise! When you hear about this word “delayed”, what was on your mind first? Maybe some would say BORED, the others might say WAITING, but how if we turn it to be FUN? Never lost hope that something good is going to happened and no need to ruin my mood, I chose to be HAPPY and FUN that day. I bought some souvenirs for me and for others in Jakarta, I even bought the same keychain for Cathy, my best friend who would came for a visit from Malaysia. I was a bit hungry so we then decided to visit a café which was not crowded that day, yeah we would like a quiet place where we could enjoy food, Lampung coffee and also watching movie together (lucky to bring my android tab everywhere). The name of the cafe is short, unique and I guess it inspired from the name of the owner’s: ‘YO’s’ Bakery and Cafe. Well it reminded me of my late mother’s friend name, Yos. LOL.

From front we could see some of their authentic menus, such as meatballs, pempek (fishcake), soto, Nasi baker (roasted rice), and Rawon (black beef soup).

One thing that made me curious was Rawon, because it is originally come from East Java, and i was in Lampung, Sumatra island. I already know what menu to try then…
Inside, the dining area was welcoming us. I like the surrounding, they had wooden and metal furnishings. It looked like they had rustic type of interior. The painting was all over one of their wall.

They also had some bread and cookies too inside.

I picked some breads and cake for us too then.
Sorry that if forgot to take pictures of their menu, but as I remember, they had some kind of baked rice (with fish or chicken), soup menus like what showed on the picture and there was also other soup like I ordered that day, zuppa soup.
Not long time after had ordered, one menu that came first was zuppa soup, but guess what? It was not hot enough so we asked them to make it hotter, then americano iced came.. But where was our avocado juice?

Well it came after we had the messy table haha, very long time to prepare it, huh?

Now, no more talking let’s just dive to our foodie taste experience that day.
Zuppa Soup

Zuppa Soup came with the chili sauce as its’ companion. Their zuppa had flaky texture, it was soft but crunch texture of the pastry at top.

Inside, the soup was a bit different, instead of cream mushroom chicken soup, they had creamy vegetable chicken soup with mushroom. It was dominantly sweet and only had a bit savory flavor. Well, for this menu, it was not the best i ever had, so I wouldn’t recommend this menu for you to try.
Rawon (black beef soup)

Their rawon soup was quite thick (this means good texture), i could feel they put many kluwek in it. It had the black authentic color. The beef cubes were soft. Their rawon had tasty savory flavor with fried onion and fresh bean sprouts. It was totally beyond expectation, it was one of the best rawon I’ve ever had (and guess what it was the last one, well i heard that they ran out of it when another customer after us wanted to order it).

And you know it also served with warm white rice, salted egg, Belinjo chips plus tasty spicy green chili paste (which was a new invention for me cause usually it served with red chili paste that contained Terasi - shrimp paste).

Rightaway my tongue adapted haha i thought it was better, rawon met green chili paste means double yummy. I highly recommend you this menu, black beef soup to try!
Besides their food we also ordered two of their drink. My last opportunity to try Lampung coffee before heading back to Jakarta, americano iced and avocado juice.

The americano made from Lampung coffee. It was robusta, quite strong. It was bitter but not sour and i loved the aroma. Really nice coffee scent, you should try it!
And also we tried their avocado juice which took longer time than it is usually to make. It was thick, full, not bitter, and quite sweet. Long story short, i enjoyed it too. I think fruits in Lampung were all fresh and tasty.

Overall, we really enjoyed our flight delayed, after having the tastiest rawon, they even prepared us Padangnese rice box (thanked God cause we hadn’t tried any Padangnese there). And beside eating we also watched Korean drama in Disney hotstar that day. What a fun delayed, actually it depends on us, when life brings you lemon, you could still make a lemonade. Right? Well, the decision is yours!
So happy to share with you all guys, if you go to Lampung, you could find this place in their airport.
