Hello, friends especially foodies!
Last friday, when we were in Bogor, before going back to Jakarta we had our late lunch in one of the most popular restaurant which was located on Pajajaran street. The restaurant's named Sego Tempong Negoro.
Inside was as i had predicted, it was full of customers that came before us. From a waitress we know that this place is always full of customers, and they would be more of customers on weekend.
The dining area was simple and quite large. It didn't have any air conditioners, only fans. Actuallly there was another smaller dining room with air conditioners, but it was full.
When we came there, we needed to queue up to order first. The process was order then pay, they will give the table number then we wait for our order to come in our own table.
The menu that this place had was not too many. They only sold sego tempong (mixed rice authentically come from Banyuwangi, a city in East Java) in packages. Imagine, their complete package only costed 0,6 USD. By adding small amount of money, you could upgrade it like changing the rice into spices rice, adding fried egg (omelette), and adding free flow sayur asem (sour veggie soup).
You also can have their more packages with chicken or nila fish. They also sold fried eggplant with chili and onion, fried jengkol with chili and onion, ayam lengket (lengket chicken), catfish, meatball, shrimp, and squid.
You could also take a look closer to their glasses showing case. Behind they prepared all of the dishes they sold.
While my boyfriend was lining up to order, i looked for a table then waited there or else we wouldn't have any place to sit because that place was popular. Lucky for us, i found a table at the back. Here was the place that even more crowded than when we arrived.
After my boyfried paying our order (it took 30 minutes of lining up) then we were waiting for our order to come which took another 15 minutes. Here how our table looked...
What we ordered were two packages of complete sego tempong, a fried egg, sour veggie soup and also iced orange.
Now let's dig in to the taste and flavour. First one was the main course, SEGO TEMPONG.
Came from Banyuwangi, rice was completed with salted fish (crunchy and salty, not fishy at all, this was ONE OF THE BEST salted fish i've ever had), fried tempeh, fried tofu, veggie (boiled kale and boiled chayote) completed with SAMBAL TEMPONG (tempong chili paste, a TASTY PERFECT combination of medium spicy, savory, sweet and sour. Really fresh, this was A PERFECT CHILI PASTE that i also never tasted before). SO overall, this SEGO TEMPONG is the best. Plus it was only 0,6 USD.
To accompany the rice, we also ordered FRIED EGG (omelette) which was egg fried with leek. It had a perfect flavour too, medium savory in perfect timing when cooked. So tasty!
We also had the SOUR VEGGIE SOUP too. It had savory with a bit sweet flavour. For the ingredients, it was simple and only consisted of belinjo leaves, belinjo skin, chayote, and peanut. Well, for me, their sour veggie soup was also tasty. And you could ask them to refill it too, wow!
Their ICED ORANGE also brighten my day.
Yes, it had sweet sour flavour and served with ice cubes. So fresh!
Look at the price, we only just paid 50,600 IDR or around 3 USD for all included tax there. How affordable!
Well, overall both of us agree that SEGO TEMPONG (Banyuwangi mixed rice) was best. It was both tasty and affordable. Something that is rare nowadays, that's why it is really beyond expectation. Of course, we would come there again when we came to Bogor and i also welcome you to try it yourselves!
