HELLO HIVER!
Another recipe I've prepared for a vegetarian lover. Do you know what is bean sprout? Let's find out what is a bean sprout and the benefits they can contribute in eating this kind of vegetables.
Bean sprouts are the germinated seeds of beans, most commonly mung beans and soy beans, known for their crunchy texture and mild flavor. Mung bean sprouts are a culinary vegetable grown by sprouting mung beans. They can be grown by placing and watering the sprouted beans in the shade until the hypocotyls grow long. Mung bean sprouts are extensively cultivated and consumed in East and Southeast Asia and are very easy to grow, requiring minimal care other than a steady supply of water. Grown in a dark, controlled environment, sprouting increases nutritional content, especially vitamins like Vitamin C and B vitamins, making them easily digestible. Benefits include being a good source of fiber, protein, minerals and antioxidants, with potential positive effects on heart health and cholesterol levels. China, India, Japan, Korea, Nepal, specially Philippines and many parts of the country uses mung bean sprout as their culinary or cuisine recipes. In Filipino cuisine mung bean sprouts are usually eaten in stir-fried dishes. Now, I will share you this simple recipe of mine called 'Ginisang Togue' (sautéed mung bean sprouts). It is a mixture of stir-fried mung beans with variety of vegetables like carrots, chayote, baguio beans, soy sauce and oyster sauce.

INGREDIENTS:
1 pack bean sprout
1/4 ground meat (pork)
1 pc. carrot (vertically sliced)
1/2 pc chayote
10 pcs. baguio beans
oil
4 gloves garlic
1 whole red onion
spring onion (optional)
salt & pepper to taste
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tbsp. patis sauce
1 sachet of oyster sauce
1/2 cup water
Procedure:
Prepare all the ingredients.
Heat the pan and pour enough oil to fry the minced garlic and red onion until it turns brown.
Put in the pork ground meat, and season it with black pepper, pinch of salt and the patis flavored sauce. Simmer for 2-5 minutes.
Add the vegetables, followed by the bean sprouts. Then add the soy sauce and water, and taste if it's okay. Then, cook for another 5-10 minutes until it's half done. Lastly, add the 1 sachet of oyster sauce. For me, it's more desirable to be half cooked.
Thank you for taking time to read my recipe. See you on my next blog.
