Here's another recipe for you all, @foodie hivers.

Today we will make some squash balls for a vegetarian lover like me. I want to add a twist on it. Hehe. Instead of meatballs alone, I added a grated squash for it. So that's my twist, and I'm also mixing it with a crispy fry to add some flavor. Squash ball is known here, especially during harvest time of squash or peak season. There are many ways to cook squash, like adobo, or else with coconut milk or ginataang kalabasa. But this time I will make a squash ball.
Squash ball is a popular dish combining grated squash, ground pork, egg, and flour, but this time I added a crispy fry to add some savor and seasonings. You can also add carrots on it, but I don't have available carrots. Now let's dig in to the ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:

1 kilo of squash
1/4 kilo ground pork / 250 grams
1/4 kilo of flour / 250 grammes
1 pack of crispy fries is good for 1 kilo.
2 pcs large-size eggs (beaten)
4 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 whole red onion (minced)
1 stalk spring onion (sliced or minced)
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt
seasonings (magic sarap)
enough oil to fry
Let's have the preparation.
Step 1: Grate the squash, but this time I asked a favor of my brother to do it because my back gets easily in pain. I need a rescue with him while I prepare the other ingredients ready to mix after grating the squash.

Step 2: Now we will squeeze the grated squash to produce some juices out of it to avoid watering during cooking time and also to make it a ball. So this is the finished product after squeezing.

Step 3: Let's add the dry ingredients like 1/4 kilo of ground pork, 1/4 kilo of flour, 1 pack of crispy fries, minced garlic, red onion, spring onions, salt, 1 tsp of black pepper and seasonings. Then combine it thoroughly.

Step 4: Now, this time we will add the beaten egg. I use only 2 pieces of large-sized eggs so that it will not become watery and is easy to form just like balls.
Step 5: For this time, I cooked it using firewood to save the gas stove because we have plenty of firewood. So we heat a pan and keep it dry for a few seconds. Then we will add some oil to be able to cook the squash balls. Let's wait to heat the oil. I didn't use a timer for this because it depends on the fire you put on it, and sometimes in firewood, we couldn't control the fire if it's low, medium or high flame.

Step 6: For easy molding of a ball, I used a plastic ladle and formed it, and after forming a ball, I quickly put it on a pan. My father taught me that. hehe

Step 7: Now we will wait for the squash ball to cook, reverse it so that the other side will cook too, and we'll wait to turn it brown or even more to make it crispy.

Finally we have done cooking, and this is all I've got. A Tupperware of cooked squash balls. Hope you like it and got some ideas from my recipe. See you in my next foodie blog.
