Last weekend, I initially planned to go for a walk and visit one of the nature parks to practice taking videos. But for some reason, the lazy side of me kicked in. Even though I brought my DJI camera along, I didn’t end up using it in any productive way, which left me a bit disappointed in myself. Maybe it was just one of those moments when I needed to slow down and do nothing productive in order to feel motivated again.
Since I didn’t take any videos, I decided instead to go for lunch in the Springleaf area. There is a nice Yong Tau Foo place there that offers a unique family-style recipe. If you have been following my food posts, you will know I like supporting small businesses, especially family-run ones like this. Ngee Fou (Hakka) Ampang Yong Tau Foo is considered one of the best places to enjoy this dish. They only serve Yong Tau Foo, which shows their dedication to perfecting the recipe.
Yong Tau Foo tends to be fairly consistent from stall to stall, but the main difference lies in the sauce. This place has one of the best. It is rich, balanced, and full of flavor without any odd aftertaste.
One of the reasons I chose Yong Tau Foo that day was because of the wide variety of vegetable and tofu options. Everything was well-cooked and delicious. It is a meal I enjoy not just because it tastes good, but also because it is healthy.
Sometimes, a quiet lunch and a simple dish are all it takes to reset and find inspiration again. I may not have captured any videos that day, but I walked away with a satisfied appetite and a clearer mind. Here's to finding balance in small moments and appreciating the little things along the way.
