Slow cooker cooking - what a treat!!

I really love most vegetables and was delighted to receive a gift from my son of a Slow Cooker.

This morning first thing I started to chop up and prepare the vegetables.

I used potatoes, butternut, broccoli, beans, baby marrows, carrots, tomatoes and red onions,

Once added to the pot I put in two chicken stock cubes and added salt, pepper, origanum, garlic, chicken spice and turmeric.

What a pleasure to turn onto the High setting and have a lovely lunch by 12.30. All we had to do was make a pot of rice and add some tumeric to colour the rice - and of course for the health benefits.

I turned the setting to Low and now cooking for a couple more hours to be added to dinner.

We bought some chicken breast strips which I have decided to cook seperately - of course I could have just added the chicken to the hot pot but decided to have the stew as vegetables served with the fried chicken.

I guess this is going to be the new favourite utensil in the kitchen as the weather is definitely cooling and hot pots are such comforting foods. Also looking forward to making a curry in the new flavour of the day pot

The gift

My son will be visiting us in June and I'm sure he will enjoy the many meals he will be served out of the slow cooker. I hope he knows how much joy he has brought to us.
