Failure often arises in experiments. Indeed, there's no indicator of success without failure. Even the inventor of the light bulb, Thomas Alfred Edison, fail repeated until him create the incandescent lamp, and today the whole world uses his idea to prevent the night from being so dark.

That's what happen in my kitchen today. I can't bake bread because my sourdough starter was discard. I don't know whats wrong, but according to my observations, the sourdough starter was discard due to unstable temperatures. It suddenly rain, preventing the sourdough from rising after 7 hours.

In the end, I just add an egg and a little water. Initially, I make the sourdough starter with 50 ml of water, 50 grams of high protein flour, and 10 grams of sourdough starter. It usually rises within 10 hours. I just go to sleep and the next morning it ready to be kneaded with other ingredients. But something unexpected happen and I really confuse about whether to throw it away or reuse it for a delicious meal.

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ceres and cheese

I immediately adding 100 ml of water, 1 egg, and 20 grams of sugar, then beat again until the mixture so smooth and slightly runny. Luckily, I have little a tool for make kue cubit (cubit cake)—in Indonesian, "kue cubit" is the English word for "Pinch Cake."

Then, I cook it by lightly buttering the pan and pour a little batter into the small holes. After only 2-4 minutes, the butter be cooked. But first, I add some chopped ceres (chocolate sprinkle) and cheese on top. This give me the sweetness of the ceres and sugar, and a hint of savory cheese.

I eat the kue cubit for breakfast today. So, my earlier failure turn into a delicious meal, make me happy, even though I a little disappoint at not being able to make bread today, but I got a breakfast full of carbohydrates that would lift my mood.
