I've been think about do something and learn about the meaning of living simply. I felt that's the right word for now consider the chaotic that's been going on since early 2026, with everyone fearing the word "war."

Humans need three things in life, clothing, food, and shelter. These three things serve as guidelines. Clothing refers to what the body wears to protect it from the heat of the sun or the cold. Food refers to the sustenance the body needs to survive. And shelter refers to a home or for protecting.

The recent chaos has prompted me to learn more, especially about living simply.

I decided to cook something simple. Honestly, this are the fish my husband caught while fishing yesterday. He caught a lot of them, each quite large, around 200-350 grams. I'm happy, it turns out we can catch fish in the river if we spend all day fishing, and that's the meaning of good fortune.

After that, I cleaned the fish of its innards to avoid the bitter taste, and also because it had to be refrigerated overnight. My husband go home after fishing in the afternoon, so I cannot grill it at night because the smoke would bother me.

I have a minimalist grill tool so I just put in the ready made charcoal that we have, then I try to grill it over a simple fire. I'm tired of blowing on the fire to get it to heat evenly and evenly, which is what good grilling should be like.

I marinated the fish I caught with instant seasoning. The recipe?

  • 5 shallots and 5 garlic cloves
  • 20 grams of red chilies
  • turmeric
  • lime leaves
  • sweet soy sauce
  • salt

I usually use that recipe, but this time I ground it myself, and you'll get delicious grilled fish.

Honestly, there's only one key to grilling fish: FRESH FISH. Then the flavor will be very sweet.

I grilled this fish briefly, but it does take some time to get the coals to burn. There's no water, so I used a fan I made from used cardboard.

At least if I'm stranded without a kitchen, I can make grilled fish like this :D

See you the next time hive friends!

Hi! Let me introduce myself, its me Wita.
I'm just a woman who wants to write whatever's on my mind. I really enjoy cooking, occasionally traveling, and doing whatever I like. I want to live like a bird flying freely in nature. But I know I'm only human. So, I can only write freely like a bird that can fly with its two wings.

I'm usually very interested in new things. Let me be creative with at least these writings. I welcome any suggestions, as long as you mention them politely in the comments section. We can have a free discussion every now and then.

Don't think too much of me as you see in my posts. I'm just sharing what I have, and some of it is actually quite enjoyable to post. It's just that I don't really like posting bad things. I hope we continue to work together to build this Hive community.
