Eid Adha For Everyone - Godok Satai With Peanut Sauce

This year I am very grateful to be able to do many things. One of them is celebrating Eid Adha with my loved ones, even though this year seems to be very difficult in this economy. Eid Adha has a different situation this year.

For me who just lost my father, he passed away last April and usually I would cook him a lot of food. This time it is very different and even much different. I make food for many people as a prayer and charity that hopefully will reach him.

Every year I give a lot of sacrificial beef, but this year we will distribute the ration to many people we met today. There are 3 days of tasyrik after Eid Adha, so, we decided to make this meat into sate godok.

Do you know sate godok? A little description, sate is usually identical to sweker, right? Well sate godok is different because there is no grilling of meat on the skewers. That's roughly it. But there is still meat inside.

The Ingredients:

  • 3 kg beef
  • 1 liter coconut milk
  • Yellow seasoning (contains 10 cloves of shallots and 10 cloves of garlic, coriander, candlenuts, lemongrass and lime leaves)
  • 1 kg peanuts
  • 100 gr sliced ​​garlic for frying
  • Crackers
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt, soy sauce, palm sugar
  • lontong (rice wrap on banana leaves)

Last night, I boiled 3 kg of meat until it was very soft. To make godok satay, the meat must be boiled for at least 2-3 hours. After boiling it, I left it overnight and in the morning I made the satay sauce.

In the morning I fried peanuts, sliced ​​shallots and crackers as condiments. Of course using enough oil.

After the peanuts have been fried, it's time to grind them with a chopper. Until the peanuts almost release their oil, but you can grind them until they are crushed.

The yellow seasoning that I bought at the market was stir-fried, then mixed with the boiled meat. When the spices are in this super large pan, I immediately put in other ingredients such as peanuts, salt, palm sugar, coconut milk and soy sauce.

Check the taste to see if it is right, then I put in 2 liters of water. Boil for 1 hour so that the peanut sauce can thicken.

After everything is done, I immediately cut the rice cake and put it in a container. Add other condiments and finally separate it from the peanut sauce.

All will be distributed to the people we met this morning.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your father. May Prayers give you more strength in this challenging journey. It is so generous of you to prepare a lot of food for donation. I haven't tried this but it has coconut milk, an ingredient which I like, so I think I'll like it too. It is truly a labor of love.
