“A Table for Two at Korean Barbecue: Enjoying a Quiet Lunch with My Favorite Person, and Fails To Make Me Smile!”

While I was in the kitchen, busy preparing lunch. As usual, pots were boiling, food to stir, and little ones running around. Then, suddenly, I got a message from my husband. He asked, “Do you want to have some Korean food?” I smiled right away. He told me he saw a special promotion for couples at a Korean restaurant near our shop. He knows very well that I love Korean food. In fact, I had been craving it for a whole week! I quickly replied, “Yes, I want!” I didn’t even think twice. Since he was already near the restaurant, he booked a Grab ride for me so I could go and meet him there. I felt excited. I gave lunch to my kids and quickly got myself ready. I didn’t want to be so late. My heart was already full from his kind and thoughtful gesture. When I arrived at the mall — 1 Mont Kiara — I realized the restaurant was just across the street from our shop. That made me smile even more. It felt like everything just fell into place so perfectly. As I walked inside the mall and entered the restaurant, I saw my husband already waiting for me.

I felt a little shy, maybe even blushing. There he was, sitting at the table like we were going on a first date again. I slowly walked to him and said softly, “Hello.” He smiled and said, “Come, sit here.” He also asked, “Is this table okay for you?” I looked around and said, “Yes, it’s a nice choice, we sat.” It’s was right in front of the buffet area, so I didn’t have to walk far if I wanted to refill later. Perfect! We called the waiter and asked him to set up the table for Korean barbecue. My husband handed me the menu, and we started choosing all the meat we wanted to try. We picked beef, chicken, and some spicy options too. Then I chose two kinds of drinks for us, and he also picked his flavors. We didn’t take too much because we didn’t want to waste any food. We thought, “If we want more food, we can just get a refill.” Soon, the grill was hot and ready. The staff bring us trays of raw meat, small side dishes, sauces, and everything we needed for Korean barbecue. My husband started cooking the meat slowly, and I watched him with a happy heart. The smell made me even more excited. I couldn’t stop smiling at him.

We laughed and talked like we were just in the dating stage, while waiting for the meat to cook. The restaurant had other people, but I think the real crowd was dinner, and we also had a late lunch, that why it still had so much space. It’s also a huge restaurant. And the feeling was like it was just the two of us in our little world. The lunch was really tasty. We enjoyed every bite. I loved the spicy chicken, and he liked the sweet beef. We shared our food and tried each of our choices. The buffet promo for a couple only cost $23.45 for both of us, and we could stay for two hours. It was a good price for a special lunch like that. But honestly, it wasn’t about the food or the price. What touched me the most was his sweet thinking. My husband didn’t have to take me out that day. But he saw something that made him think of me, and he planned it. That small thing meant a lot. It makes me feel loved and special. Sometimes we wait for big days, like birthdays, anniversaries, or trips. But often, the small and simple moments show the most love. A short message. A surprise lunch. A kind act. These little things stay in our hearts. That day, I didn’t just enjoy Korean food. I felt my husband’s love. And that made everything even more special.
