A few days ago we celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Fitr at the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Honestly, this is a time of great joy because after a long month of fasting, when Eid comes, it brings extra joy for us. Also, relatives and friends are met on this day as an added pleasure. So to add to the joy of Eid, we attended a night party a few days ago. Especially the party was organized by the senior elder brothers of our school. They were a batch senior to us but I got along with them more like friends so I got invited there too. To be honest, this batch is the one I hang out with the most out of my classmates. Whenever there is a holiday, I have more stories or meetings with them. They often go to different places and eat different foods in different restaurants.
But last Tuesday night we had a party where a male goat was slaughtered. However, we bought it from the market. Its market value is around $140. Then it is slaughtered at the house of one of our senior brothers and cooked there. Basically we went there in the afternoon. About 25 of us participated in that party. Also there in the afternoon we wandered around the area and spent the time gossiping about different stories. Also later in the evening we indulged in card games. The time went very well. Honestly a party like this is not only for the food but also a good opportunity to get together with loved ones and a good way to bond with everyone after a long day.
But most of all, when we sat down to eat, it was very difficult to serve different dishes to so many people. Especially some of our older brothers who live as expatriates in different states have the wisdom to spread polythene in the middle and serve food on that polythene. Honestly I have never had food served like this. So it was quite an exception for me, but not for me it was an exceptional performance for many. There we dined on goat meat as well as a variety of salads and pulses. Although a separate cook was hired for cooking and he cooked very well as the food turned out to be very tasty. But the best thing was to eat together like this after a long time. Although we are not able to get together or spend time like this nowadays due to busy schedule, it was a joy to get together and eat together even at this age. Because I passed SSC in 2005 and my senior brothers passed SSC in 2004. So it was much more joyful and a very memorable post-Eid reunion.
