Salty or Sugary? A Food Matter

in Hive Naija3 days ago

When it comes to food, human beings are diverse, with diverse preferences as well. What one likes could be the opposite for another, and so we could find it surprising that what we hold dear as a great food differs from what another thinks. I guess the saying, "one man's food is another man's poison" perfectly fits in here. Choices could always vary, no matter how the food might seem delicious, appetizing and welcoming. What could make one salivate at the instant it's mentioned or a picture seen, could be the same that another sees and finds no interest at all.

People could prefer a food over others or another at all cost, while another could dislike it, with no sense of interest even. This could be due to experiences, medical advices, nutritional value and so on. Other instances could be just a case of personal preference, and the joy in that delicious bite and intake that makes it so much of an appeal. With food being a basic necessity of humans, this will always stand. On this discourse, I'll be considering a choice between salty and sugary foods. What's the preference here for me?

So, salty foods and sugary foods. It makes it kind of hard for me to find a choice here. If you would have asked me this some years ago, the latter would have been my preference. Now, I find none really appealing to me. It's surprising how we grow up and do away with some things we liked. I could remember always desiring to have candies, sweets, snacks, junks and all the sugary foods I could get. Drinks would have to be sweet and sugary, if not it's not worth taking. I personally now stay away from junks and all the sugary/sweet foods and drinks as much as possible.

I wouldn't say I don't take it totally, it's something I take with limits and occasionally. Healthy and cooked meals are the better choice now. Except for fruits which are sweet, taking an excessive amount of junks and sugary foods isn't much of a desirable choice for me. Well, I came across a post that said some sweet foods aren't totally bad; especially when they are from fruits. That will be the case, if not, sugary foods are a no go area for me, of course except once in a while.

Talk of salty foods, I will hardly say I like this too. The very fact that I have to taste that amount of salt and feel in my taste buds how salty it is, it could be the end of that meal. I find this one totally not a choice. There are times I do cook without salt or mostly just a pinch of it. This is because of how much I know it can make a food inedible for me. No matter how sumptuous and delicious the meal is, when it's salty you could count me out already. There's something about the salty taste that feels off to me. It isn't really much of a choice at all.

It's about healthy eating that matters most I consider. Just a good amount of salt and a good amount of sugar, with good and proper regulations or balance, and that's good to go; a matter of good nutritional intake.

Sugary and salty both has its own advantage and disadvantages. It's now a personal thing to make. If both is muchly applied to any substance it becomes inedible. Thank you for sharing this insightful topic

Yes, that's true. I agree with you, excess is the main deal.
