Today, I want to share a food story that feels more like a poem than a recipe, a tale of how five humble eggplants turned my ordinary day into something memorable.

This morning, I had no plans for what to cook. My kitchen felt quiet, almost empty of ideas. Then, as if destiny wanted to brighten my day, a rolling store of vegetables passed by my gate. I quickly bought five pieces of eggplant, their purple skins shining like gems in the sunlight.

I grilled them until smoky and tender, mixed them with eggs, and fried them into Tortang Talong, a dish so simple yet so comforting. For breakfast, I savored its warmth, each bite reminding me of home. At lunch, I enjoyed it again, the flavors deepening as if the dish wanted to linger. By dinner, I finished the leftovers, grateful for the joy of eating something I hadn’t tasted in months.
