
Efere Abak is one of the meals loved by the people of Akwa Ibom. It is prepared using palm fruit with other protein ingredients.
The meal is simple, nutritious and delicious to enjoy.
Ingredients
Palm fruit
Beef
Periwinkle
Dry fish
Cowskin
Pepper
Maggie
Salt
Uyayak
Onion
Atama leaf
Preparation method
Wash the palm fruit and boil. When it is soft, drain out the water. Using a mortar and pestle, pound it to have a smooth mixture.
Take it out and put it in a bowl, and use warm water to squeeze out the oil.
Take out a little squeeze of water, used and cooked stock with sliced onions, pepper, salt and Maggie.
Turn in the stock inside the squeeze water and start cooking the meal properly. Cook the meal until it becomes thick.
Check the meal if the ingredients have taken their respective places and then add crayfish and Uyayak to cook.
Add the Atama leaf, stir and bring down the pot. The Efere Abak is ready to be consumed.
Depending on individual choice, this meal can be enjoyed with boiled white rice or swallow such as fufu, amala, garri, semovita, or wheat.
