Roast chicken with air fryer oven chips

in Hive Foodlast year (edited)

Ingredients

1 whole chicken
4-5 large potatoes
salt
pepper
oregano
olive oil
seasoning blend for chicken

Cooking method

I bought a whole chicken from a local Lidl supermarket, at 2.99 euro per kilo. The entire chicken weighed about 1.9 kg.

I used a big saucepan to put the chicken in, and then, I put water in to cover the chicken.

I put the saucepan on the stove plate, covered it with the lid, turned the heat on to maximum, and brought it boil.

Then I turned the heat to low-to-medium, and skimmed the broth with a tablespoon, getting rid of any excess fat and scum into a deep plate, and finally discarding those unwanted substances.

I left the broth to simmer with the lid on for half an hour.

I turned the oven on to 200 Celsius (392 Fahrenheit) to preheat it.

After the chicken had simmered in the broth for half an hour, I took it out and put it into a ceramic oven pot.

I added salt, salt, pepper, oregano, olive oil, and chicken seasoning blend, spread the spices all over the surface of the chicken, closed the ceramic oven pot with the lid, and put it into the oven.

I turned the heat to 250 Celsius (482 Fahrenheit), and let it bake for half an hour.

After half an hour had passed, I took the oven pot out of the oven, and turned the chicken upside-down, to be evenly cooked.

I closed the lid, put the chicken back into the oven, lowered the heat to 200 Celsius (392 Fahrenheit), and let it bake for another half an hour.

Finally, I took the lid off, turned the chicken again, and put it back into the oven, without the lid this time.

I let it have a good roast on both sides, before taking it out of the oven, ready to serve.

While the chicken was getting roasted, I peeled the potatoes and put them in a big plastic bowl with water, and then cut them into pieces like chips, keeping them in water to prevent them from going brown.

Then I strained the potatoes into a colander, and spread them over two pieces of paper towel that I had previously put on the kitchen counter, with two more pieces of paper towel on top to dry the potatoes.

I took a rectangular baking pan and covered it with baking paper.

I put the potatoes into the baking pan, added salt and olive oil to them, mixed them with my hands, and spread them evenly all over the pan.

I put the pan in the oven, turned the air on, and air-fried them for half an hour.

I'm still having some double about the air fryer but reading some posts here and in social networks many people suggest it for many dishes ❤️ your chicken looks so good and the skin look so crunchy !!

@noemilunastorta,
Thank you for your comment.
It really makes me happy when others like the food that I cook.
Sometimes, the end result is really good and everyone appreciates it, while other times, it is not that good.
What can you say?
We have to keep trying, learning, and improving with time.
