Hi bloggers and food lovers! Today I’m going to share what I had for lunch. It’s a classic Indonesian dish: sambal (chili sauce). I absolutely love sambal. I made fried shrimp and quail eggs with sambal. It’s pretty easy to make and goes perfectly with warm rice. Alright, let’s get started.
Ingredients:
- 30 quail eggs
- 300 grams of shrimp
- 200 grams of red chili peppers
- 6 bird’s eye chili peppers
- 8 cloves of shallots
- 1/2 tamarind
- sugar
- salt
- 70 ml vegetable oil
Steps:
- Clean the quail eggs, then boil them for 10 minutes after the water comes to a boil

- While boiling the eggs, peel the shrimp and briefly cook them in preheated oil in a pan

- Remove and drain

- Once the eggs are cooked, let them cool and peel them

- Fry the peeled quail eggs in the oil previously used to fry the shrimp

- Remove and drain

- Prepare the red chili peppers, bird’s eye chili peppers, and peeled shallots

Blend them using a blender with a little water
Add to the oil in the pan
Add tamarind and water solution
Stir until the chilies are cooked
Add salt and sugar to taste
Add the quail eggs and shrimp to the chili sauce
Stir until well combined

- The shrimp and quail eggs sambal ( chili sauce ) is ready to serve
