I believe many hivers must have heard or read in the past that sugar is bad for our health. How true is this? Can that knowledge be trusted? Well, I think what is bad about sugar isn't really sugar itself but the quality and quantity of sugars we consume. Sugar is actually a very useful and easy to convert energy sources for our body. Besides, if it is not useful, it wouldn't exist in nature especially in foods we eat.
Industrial synthetic sugar, which is low quality sugar, like the typical refined white sugar we are used to are what is bad for you, while natural sugar like what can be found in real honey, sugarcane, pineapple, watermelon, etc are really good for you but should be consumed in moderation. The bad synthetic or artificial sugar should be avoided while the good natural ones are good but shouldn't be consumed in excess. In summary, the bad sugars should not be consumed at all while the good ones should be consumed in Moderation.
If you have any food you wish to sweeten, use honey, or sugar from sugarcane, or sugar from very sweet fruits, nuts, trees etc. And there are different ways to extract the sugar from their sources like from honeycomb, sugarcane, etc, without lowering their qualities or making them harmful to health. If interested you could search for their tutorials on youtube but make sure the tutors aren't using toxic substances, objects or extreme heat for the extraction.
Healthy living to you!
