Today i would like to share the recipe of Masoor Daal Tadka Masoor dal is a simple lentil-based curry or soup prepared from red lentils, to make tadka it is prepared with chopped onion ans tomato with aromatic & Flavourful Indian Spices. It is an ideal curry that can be served with both rice and roti for lunch and dinner. It is Like with kids and adult both, it is North Indian recipe which is cooked occasionally, or can be enjoyed during House Party, as Masoor Daal is heavy to Digest. There are various way of preparing, but this recipe is quickest and easy way to make delicious lentil.

Ingredients 📃


To Cooked Daal.

• 1 Cup Red Lentils/ Malka Masoorr Daal.
• ½ tbsp of turmeric powder.
• Salt to taste.
• water as required.

To Make Tadka

• 2 tbsp of Ghee.
• 1 chopped onion.
• 3-4 Chopped Garlic.
• 2 inch of Ginger.
• 1 bay leaf.
• ½ tsp cloves.
• 1 pod black cardamom.
• 1 inch cinnamon.
• 1 tsp cumin.
• Pinch of asafoetida.
• 1 Chopped Tomato.
• ½ tsp turmeric powder.
• 1 tsp chilli powder.
• 1 tsp coriander powder.
• 2 tbsp of Fresh Cream.
• Water as required.
• Green Coriander leaves for Garnish.

To Make Rice.

• 1 Cup of Rice.
• water as Required.

Firstly, Rinse the daal with fresh to remove dirt, then soak whole masoor daal for 30 minutes in Hot Water.

Remove the water, add into the pressure cooker, add water to cover up the level of Daal.

then add turmeric powder and Salt. Pressure cook for 5 whistles or until the dal is cooked well.

Mash the dal slightly, to get desired consistency.

Keep it aside while preparing your tadka.

In a kadai/pan, add ghee and saute bay leaf, cumin seeds then Garlic till they turn fragrant, garlic turn into Golden brown, add whole spices mentioned above then add finely chopped onions and saute till they get translucent.

Lower the flame, crush the kathuri methi between your palm then add to sauted onions. Stir immediately to avoid burning.

Keep the flame lower, then add red Chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric powder & Coriander powder, saute it for few second or untill get Aromatic.

now add chopped tomatoes and cook till they are soft.

Add readymade amul cream or Fresh Milk malai(cream).

In the medium flame keep cooking untill masalas start releasing oil from sides.

Once your masala is ready add the chopped coriander leaves & Green chilli (optional).

Pour the masala into the cooked Daal. Adjust the consistency by adding water as required.

boil for 10-12 minutes or more till the daal absorbs flavour and turns thick. keep it aside.


To Make Rice

To cook rice in a pot, rinse
cup of white rice until water runs clear, Soaked it for 5 to 10 mins then add it saucepan with water, cooked it untill it get soft.

Serve hot Masoor Daal Tadka with Stream Rice, even your enjoy with your favourite Bread - Roti or Parathi.
