👩🍳 Hello! Hello! 👩🍳 My dear #foodieslovers, I greet you hoping everything is going very well in your lives. I've had a few convulsive and crazy days to be honest, but that has not limited me to keep creating in the kitchen and well, it has been my best therapy when I need to breathe and at least I keep feeding myself and having reasons to smile when I see my family happy. In this opportunity, I prepared a delicious typical dish from my region that is made during the period known as Semana Santa (Holy Week), and it is a tradition to prepare it with the family.
The dish is prepared with fish, and I remember in my childhood NEVER! eating it because I didn't like fish (what times and flavors I missed). It was always prepared by my mother and it was a tradition to make a meal and also to share it with the neighbors. My mother is undergoing surgery and my J.J hadn't tried it, since it's not made in her region, so it seemed like an excellent opportunity to get into the kitchen and prepare it for the two of them and now that I LOVE FISH! I also enjoy it myself 💯. Today I show you how to prepare our famous: CHUCHO´S CAKE 🐠.
🐠 Fish. The fish should be one without bones and that can be flaked later.

🐠 Pescado. El pescado debe ser uno sin espinas y que pueda ser desmenuzado posteriormente.

The ingredients are very easy to get and its preparation is simple. Why don't we make it always and only on these dates? I don't know, but believe me that once you become an expert, you will want to do it at least once a month 😉. The first thing we must do is to separate and prepare the ingredients, because like any cake, before assembling it, everything has to be well separated.
The fish. In my country they use: skate, tuna, dogfish, or any fish that, as I said, has no bones. This fish has to be parboiled and then shredded. In this step, a lot of material is lost, so it must be quite a lot of fish, 1 kilo or 3? It will depend on how many people you have to enjoy this pie. Once shredded, it should be cooked as you like: garlic, onion, chili, paprika, some spicy, everything will depend on your personal seasoning. I “save” this process because I buy it already prepared; this time I bought dogfish, which I like for its salty flavor. A friend of mine has a business and for $5 I buy 250 g, ready to use. I added a little bit of spice, because it was stewed like for diabetics 😊.
Eggs. It will depend on how many layers will be made, because everything must be covered when layers of layers are made. I used half a carton and it was a lot, so ideally we should beat 4 at a time so as not to waste extra eggs.
Bananas. They should be fried either in the traditional or circular shape, and they will serve to cover and make the cake compact. I made them in a “slice” shape for the bottom and circular for everything else.


Preparation This process took about 20 minutes. First a layer of egg is placed to make the base. Then a layer of plantain to cover the eggs. Next, the fish. Unfortunately, I bought very little, so I had to distribute it so that all the pieces would taste fishy. I recommend much more. These layers are repeated over and over again, until you reach the end. It is up to each person to decide. I had 3 layers.
In each layer, bread crumbs are applied to help compact and prevent it from falling apart when it is cooked or chopped into pieces. Ideally, I would put it in an oven, but since I don't have one, I put it in a pan over medium heat and checked it constantly. Like any cake, when you stick a knife in it and it comes out totally clean. Let me tell you that the smell that is given off in all that cooking time, is enveloping and we want it to be fast to devour it 😆.




I have no idea why it is accompanied with beans, since it is a main dish, but following tradition, I made some red ones that were also delicious: It can also be eaten for lunch (as shown in the pictures), breakfast, dinner or as a side dish. Really, it's a dish to eat all day long 😋.
