Hello friends how are you all I hope you all will be fine I am also fine. So today some guests were coming to our home for dinner so then we thought to make zarda which means sweet rice in dessert. This sweet dish is called zarda in our language and it is eaten in Pakistan. Making it is very easy that is why I thought I should share its tutorial with you all. I made this with my mom. Although I know how to make zarda but the quantity was large that is why my mom helped me in this. So now let’s start making this Pakistani sweet dish.
Ingredients needed
To make this sweet rice the things that are needed are these.
Rice 2 kg
Sugar 1 kg
Pistachio 250 grams
Almond 250 grams
Raisins 250 grams
Half coconut
Cham cham 250 grams (sweet balls)
Khoya 250 grams (milk solids)
Some cardamom
Food color
Food flavor saffron
Ghee
So to make zarda only these things are needed.





Preparing the dry fruits
Okay so now let’s start making it. First of all I soaked almonds in hot water for 30 mins so that the skin can be removed easily. And I bought pistachios from the shop without shells. After this I washed the raisins well then kept them aside to dry a little. And lastly I also soaked half coconut in hot water for 30 mins so that it becomes easy to cut. After 30 mins I cut the coconut finely.










Mixing the dry fruits and boiling the rice.
After this I put 1 kg sugar in a container then added all these dry fruits into it. Then I mixed them well. Now it is time to cook rice. I had soaked rice 2 hours earlier so that it becomes a little soft. Now I put water in a big pot to boil. When the water boiled then I added rice into it. Now the rice will cook well and also soak the water.










Layering
Now when the rice becomes well soft then we have to add this dry fruits mixture into it. To add this we have to make one layer of rice then one layer of dry fruits then again one layer of rice then one layer of dry fruits and along with this add some cardamom as well. Now in the last layer also add a little food flavor.












Adding the food color
After this I took some ghee and heated it well. Then I poured this hot ghee on the rice. Now cook this rice on high flame for 15 mins then after 15 mins add food color. Then again cook it on low flame for 1 hour. Now after 1 hour add khoya into this sweet rice and cook it for 5 more mins on low flame.




Final result
So this way our sweet rice is ready. At the time of serving add cham cham on top of it this tastes very good with cham cham.
