Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
Earlier in the day, I decided to create some memories with my family by making our Sunday afternoon a memorable one. I decided to make some cake for my family and I, so that we would have something to snack on later in the day. I had most of the ingredients in the house with the exception of eggs and butter that I had to just buy at the corner shop near my house.
Some point to note is that I used an all-purpose flour for the cake and not a self rising flour. This majorly to ensure that I have control over the ingredients that I'm using as self rising flours usually have baking powder and other ingredients already. Also, I tried out the style of melting the butter before mixing with the sugar and I almost ruined it because the butter was over melted. Luckily, I was able to save the day by thinking out of the box to place the butter in the freezer for about 5 minutes to solidify.
Ingredients Needed
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup milk
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
150g of baking butter
1½ teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs
Step by Step
First and foremost, we will prep all the ingredients that we will be using by arranging them on a table to ensure that we don't miss any ingredient during the mixing process. It can be easy to skip an ingredient if you don't take time to carefully arrange them.
Next, we will add the butter to a mixing bowl and mix with the sugar. However, I melted my butter in a hot pan first before adding into the mixing bowl. But in the process of mixing I realized that I have overmelted the butter so I had to put into the freezer for it to solidify.
So, I continued mixing the butter and sugar together using a spatula for about 10 minutes. This is the most important part of the cake making process as it makes the cake soft and fluffy.
Next, gently add the cracked eggs into the mixing bowl and mix well.
Add the nutmeg powder and milk into the mixture and continue to mix
Then use your sieve to add your baking powder into the mixture.
Then add the flour to the mixture too and keep mixing together.
Now that we are done mixing, you will pour the mixture into your aluminium foil plates or baking pan.
Place the foil plates in your preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
When you want to know it is done you can check by inserting a fork or toothpick in the center and it comes out clean.
Your cake is ready to be served.
I hope you like my recipe. I look forward to seeing you in my next one.
