Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
This year I decided to give my husband a little surprise by baking him a birthday cake from the scratch. I feel like it is not always about the exotic or flashy gestures but the little efforts also matters. A good home-made meal and the heartfelt moments shared when everyone is gathered chatting and laughing is a more special and memorable way of celebrating.
Well, I'm not a professional baker but I put in my best to ensure that the cake comes out well. I would be making the cake without icing - in short it is going to be a naked cake. Some of the reasons is because if it were to be iced we won't still consume the icing for health goals.
I didn't have a baking pan before so I had to stop by at a local market near me to get one big size. I use an aluminium foil plates to bake my cake before now so I have got myself a baking pan that can make me enough cake. Also, since I have been baking frequently lately I hope to get myself a mixer soon because I mix using a wooden spatula.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
2½ cups all purpose flour
½ cup milk
1 cup sugar
300g baking butter
½ meduim nutmeg seed
1½ tsp baking powder
6 medium-sized eggs
STEP BY STEP
Start by adding butter to a mixing bowl and pour in your sugar.
Mix the sugar and butter thoroughly using your mixer or any other alternative. I made use of my wooden spatula as i don't have a mixer. I mixed it together continuously for about 10 minutes. This step is the base for your cake and you must ensure you get it right. The process makes your cake fluffy and bouncy.
After you are done mixing the butter and sugar together gently crack your eggs into the bowl and mix thoroughly.
The next thing you will do is to grate your nutmeg into the mix using a grater and slowly add your milk into the mix.
Then add your baking powder into the mix. I added 1½ teaspoons of baking powder.
Now add your flour to the mixture and mix thoroughly.
Then pour your mixture into your baking pan and place in a preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
To check if it is done you can insert a toothpick in the center and when it comes out clean your cake is ready.
The 'naked cake' came out very nice. All the ingredients were in the right proportion and quantity. The base and side of the cake got burnt a bit so I had to carefully scrap it off. In the end, the cake is not just about 'cake' it is a share of love to my man.
