A Nostalgic Bite... Chicken Feet in Claypot

in Hive Food11 days ago

It’s been a long while since I last enjoyed chicken feet, so this meal felt like a nostalgic treat. I went with the claypot chicken feet option, something I’ve always had a soft spot for. Some may feel that it's weird to eat chicken feet but for me it's a delicacy and it's something that enjoy munching on :D.

The first thing I noticed... the chicken feet were the larger type, plump and generous in portion. Cooked until perfectly tender, the skin and tendons slipped right off the bone with almost no effort. That melt-off-the-bone texture is exactly what makes chicken feet so satisfying when prepared well, and this stall nailed it. No doubt about that!

The claypot presentation made the dish looks special. Bubbling hot when served, it kept the flavors deep and more importantly it kept the dish warm as I enjoy the food. The sauce was rich, savory, and has the right touch of spice... enough to warm the palate without me sweating a lot, LOL. What surprised me most was the addition of fermented vegetables, which added a salty tang that blended nicely with the braised flavors. It gave each bite an extra kick of flavor, and honestly, I found myself scooping the sauce over rice just to savor more of it.

Eating chicken feet is always a bit of a hands-on, nibbling kind of experience, but that’s part of the fun. Is there anyone who can relate to this? Every bite released concentrated flavors, and it reminded me why this dish is such a beloved classic in Chinese-style comfort food.

The hawker center itself had a calm, relaxed vibe. Not too crowded, which made the experience more enjoyable... I could really take my time with the claypot without feeling rushed. Sitting there, spoon in hand, picking at the flavorful chicken feet with a chopstick... while the claypot gently steamed, it felt like a simple but deeply satisfying dinner.

Overall, this was a well-prepared, flavorful, and nostalgic dish. I left full, content, and already thinking: it won’t be so long before I come back for another claypot chicken feet fix.

Oh, chicken feet! I sometimes crave them too (perfect with Soju, lol). In Korea, they’re usually coated in a super spicy sauce.

Ooooh that looks yummy! I may not be strong enough for super spicy food but i would have that with a cold beer (or Soju too) and i will be fine LOL

Chicken feet is something I've never been able to bring myself to put in my mouth. 🤣 It just looks too weird to me.

In our country, we call that dish "Adidas" 😀

The chicken feet looks similar to the Adidas logo.

Oh yes, I can relate. We have it with a similar texture here in Pakistan. All for a much cheaper price @0.5 $ per 6 pcs 😃.

People can enjoy it with its soup or fried with seasonings on top 😋

Thanks for sharing @curamax
