Quick & Flavorful Homemade Chicken Karahi: A Simple Weekend Special

in Hive Foodyesterday

There is nothing quite like the rich aroma of a freshly cooked Chicken Karahi to make a weekend feel special. Today, I am sharing a simple, traditional, and fast recipe that brings authentic street-style flavors right into your home kitchen with minimal ingredients.
Ingredients Required:
Chicken: 500g (cut into small curry pieces)
Tomatoes: 4 medium (chopped or halved)
Spices: Red chili flakes, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt to taste
Aromatics: Freshly crushed ginger-garlic paste and green chilies
Finish: Fresh coriander, julienned ginger, and a squeeze of lemon
Step-by-Step Method:
Searing: Heat oil in a deep pan or traditional wok (karahi). Add the chicken and sauté on medium-high heat until it changes color and locks in its juices.
Building the Base: Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes. Cover with a lid for 5–7 minutes to let the tomatoes soften and create a rich gravy base.
Spicing & High Heat: Remove tomato skins if preferred, add all ground spices, and fry on high heat (bhunai) until the oil naturally separates from the masala.
Garnish: Finish with slit green chilies, freshly chopped coriander, and raw ginger strips for that classic aroma.
Pair it with hot naan or roti for the best experience. Simple, rich, and effortless!

Se ve muy bueno, he tratado de hacer el pollo de esta manera, pero no me sale bien. Saludos!

Thank you so much, @geila! The key is to fry the chicken well on high heat (bhunai) after adding the spices until the oil separates. Give this simple step-by-step method a try next time, I'm sure it will turn out delicious! Greetings! 😊
