About every 2 days, I take a photo of my garden from the same spot on my deck. I used to make individual blog posts out of each of them, and they did pretty well. But for the past 100 or so, I just set them aside and let them build up. Recently, someone asked me what I've been up to lately (hinting that my content output has been a bit reduced). So I figured it was time to edit up the photos, and turn them into a time-lapse image of my garden, from my heart surgery last August, until today:
Bigger and better than last year! I'm already eating lettuce, strawberries, oregano, and more. I'm excited for the peas coming soon, and hoping for some heat this Summer so the tomatoes do well.
So 100 posts became 1! Instead of about $300, I'll end up with about $3, because curators seem to value a GIF of 100 photos (and a lot of editing time) the same as a single snapshot. But hey, I'd rather not spam the blockchain with extra nonsense posts about plants... we have PLENTY of that already!
For a little added value, here's another time-lapse... from when I first created this garden (April 2023) until today (June 2025)! I had to shrink the size so it would all fit onto the blockchain!
Hard to imagine I did that all on my own, with a budget of $0, using hand tools and seeds I had brought with me from my past life. Way up in Northern Canada! While home-schooling 2 young children, and dealing with MS, chronic pain, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, diverticulitis, ER visits, surgery, and a LOT more.
Now my family has a source of food, no matter what happens with the economy, supply chain issues, tariffs and economic wars, wildfires and other 'climate change' shenanigans, etc. Even if something happens to me tomorrow, there's going to be a large amount of organic produce flowing out of there over the coming 6 months. Feeling good about that!
We are approaching the Summer equinox, which means sunlight until midnight up here. Morning comes at 3am. This is our big shot... the 4 months of the year it isn't dark, cold, and/or gloomy. So I am making hay (well... potatoes, sunflowers, basil, beans, tomatoes, apples, peas, blueberries, carrots, garlic, cucumbers, and much more) while the sun shines.
Have a wonderful week. Grow in peace.
