Last nye celebration I prepared my share for the meal for the family. I thought about doing a charcuterie board because in my mind they are the quickest to make and so I bought three paddle baords and loaded them with these sweets and candies that I bought at the grocery. I thought that was it and done...

See this photo and all the colors there. Pink and brown alternating beautifully I did not plan that I was just randomly picking packs of candies from the grocery aisle and when I reached home was surprised by the colors working together.

I baked a small batch of banana bread with chocolate chips and another with nuts ( sorry forgot the name but the nuts shaped like human brain). I also added the box of Biscoff I received from @jadung some coffee and hot choco ready mix on the side. This is already looking like a sari sari store that is what the kids are jokingly telling me and I agree. Later on my sister in law came bringing some citrus fruits and grapes which I spread around the boards.

But then i thought it is not just candy and sweets that people want to munch on all night so I thought adding some other finger snacks like tuna pockets that has some vege and tuna. It looks a bit different next to the sweets but i liked how it turned out. It was just one of those things where you don't really plan everything out perfectly, you just put together what feels good. We spent the night picking at the boards and just talking. Nothing too loud, just a nice way to end the year with the family. No waste, no pretending, just practical and honest food for everyone and nostalgia too. I can't stop thinking about the sari sari store really.
Keep learning and exploring! Always be curious and never stop learning new things.
