Happy Thursday!
Sunny morning but chilly. Highest will only be 18 C. Funny how 18C in Spring is warm, while 18C in Autumn is chilly π Canadian Geese been flying often above the house now. I guess they are preparing to go to South. In honesty, I do not want Winter anymore. No, wait. I do. Just not as crazy π€£ My family will be flying in from Australia this December though. They'd like to have Winter Wonderland Christmas this year with the boys. Here is hoping it snows like crazy on Winter day, but once my Mum and sis fly out, Winter will just be chill, not extreme or whatnot π€£ Can we, please, God? π I actually don't mind the coldness. It's the super slippery road, icy road and pavement, unshoveled snow, crazy high snow bank, driving in poor or almost no visibility at all, .... err yeah... maybe no Winter, God? π Poor Mum and sis then π π π π
How about you? Do you love Winter?
I have fried rice recipe to share today, Indonesia style. Maybe I shouldn't say Indonesia style as there are tons of varieties in Indonesia when it comes to fried rice, however, when you go to YouTube, most of the foreigners seem to show off fried rice that only uses kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), and seems like that's what it's known as, and that is it. Yep, no. Depending on the island, depending on the household, Indonesia fried rice can use not just sweet soy sauce, but also ketchup, terasi (shrimp paste), petai (stinky beans), ikan asin (salted fish), sambal ijo (green chili paste) even curry flavoring. Those type would not use sweet soy sauce in the fried rice π
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 kg ground chicken
1 tbsp unsalted butter
2 eggs
1 tbsp unsalted butter
3 shallots
3 garlic
4 baby carrots, grated
1 broccoli floret, grated
Enough for 4-5 serving rice
Chicken bouillon powder to taste
White pepper powder to taste
1 bag beansprouts
Fried onion for serving
Melt butter and cook chicken until no longer pink, spoon out to a plate, set to side
Using the same pan, melt butter, and scramble eggs. Still on the same pan, set eggs aside and melt more butter, and saute thinly sliced garlic and onion, set to another side of the pan
Add butter, and saute grated carrots and broccoli for a minute or two, then stir everything on the pan to combine
Add in chicken, stir
Add in rice and seasoning, cook to combine well, then add in beansprouts, cook for a minute or two and fried rice is ready to be served
Sprinkle with fried onion and enjoy π
