Currently what's going on in my city, Mumbai is something that I have always wished for and looks like finally our prayers are getting answered. Finally, there are few Government officials coming up on who we can be proud of and appreciate their work. Most of the politicians and Government officials are only interested in filling up their pockets. But this one man is making all of us believe that it's not all lost and there is hope.
I am talking about the newly appointed Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration of Maharashtra State. His name is Tukaram Mundhe. Mumbai is a city in the state of Maharashtra and currently his actions are being taken mostly in the city. It is much needed, forever I guess there has been no one who has looked into the hygiene of restaurants and quality of food in the market. It's not even 3 months that he has been in this position and he has raided some of the most renowned places of the city and identified extreme hygiene issues and the quality of food served there.
It's a disgrace that these restaurants are charging prices of fine dining and serving unhygienic food. His team has been scrutinizing almost every restaurant in the city and revoking their licenses if needed. This man is a Hero; no one has ever dared to go this far. There is corruption at the cost of people's health. There are surprised inspections happening not only at restaurants but also in manufacturing plants and supply chains. So, the quality inspection is just not limited to food served in the restaurant.
There were synthetic dairy products racket going on in the state, which he cracked and all of their products had to go down the drain. He is currently working on the Gutkha Mafias, it is one of the biggest industries in India and Gutkha is more harmful than a cigarette also. It leads to cancer for sure if consumed regularly. He is also planning to bring action on those film stars who are endorsing this kind of product, I believe this is absolutely needed because these film stars with their popularity start trends and these are not the things that they should promote.
Now-a-days restaurants in the city are so scared that every restaurant is getting their kitchen deep cleaned, not only that the artificial food colors that were being used have been dropped. Everyone has started providing good quality fresh and healthy food without any adulteration. The best mandate that he has passed is around the schools. Within 50 meters of the school radius, there will be no junk food sold.
What a man he is, I still cannot believe that such people do exist and they can actually work in the benefit of people. The funny part is that he is so honest and corrupt free that in his 21 years of service he has been transferred 25 times in different Government positions...haha. This time the people of the city are making a mass appeal that he should not be transferred and he should continue in this position for a minimum of 3 years. I am sure this time his transfer will not be that easy, else there is going to be a big outrage not only in the city but the whole state, and probably whole of India.
He has also created a toll-free helpline for citizens to report in any food violations observed. Every Indian wants a person like him in all Government positions who is extremely corrupt free, working selflessly in the good of people, and making sure no wrongful things are happening.
