🍽️ A Home Dinner Prepared in 90 Minutes – Was It Worth It?

Yesterday we had guests over for dinner,
so as soon as I got home from work,
I turned on the oven straight away.
I put in the beef (oyster blade) and porchetta (rolled pork belly).
Since they take different times to cook,
I started with the pork first for about 30 minutes,
then added the beef later.

I also threw in some vegetables.
To be honest, the oven is a bit small,
so I was a little worried if everything would cook in time.
🥗 Getting Everything Ready
While the meat was in the oven,
I worked on the salads.
A German-style potato salad
with potatoes, eggs, bacon, pickles, mustard, mayo, sour cream, and spring onions.
And a simple Greek salad
with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, capsicum, olives, and feta.

🍰 Desserts
With the remaining time,
I prepared the desserts.
A three-cheese platter with baguette,
quince paste, pecans, grapes, and strawberries.
And a fruit salad with rockmelon, honeydew, strawberries, blueberries,
ruby red kiwi, and grapes.

We only had about an hour and a half before the guests arrived at 6,
so it was definitely a bit rushed.
🥩 Turned Out Better Than Expected
The meat came out really well.
I didn’t have enough time to let it rest properly,
so I sliced a bit first and served it,
then cut the rest later.
Still, it turned out just how I wanted.

I didn’t get a photo of the porchetta,
which is a shame because that one was actually even better.
🙂 Worth the Effort
In the end,
we had a really nice time with our guests.
A bit rushed, a bit hectic,
but definitely worth it.
