I know that it probably sounds funny that a diabetic is rating a donut but I do know where my levels are when I have something this sweet. Anyone who knows me also knows that I love jelly donuts as well as the Bavarian Cream donut pictured above, so it is probably good for my health that the bakery that I found this delicious monster in is not close to where I live. This bakery is the Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Café in Pennsylvania. It is of no surprise to me that I found what I consider to be the best donut I ever had in my life in Amish country.
The above rave also goes for their jelly donut. Their Bavarian Cream donut is a real messy treat, especially with the homemade cake icing on top. The powder in the picture is actually from the jelly donut that it was next to. The best part is that you don't have to search for the filling in this donut. Have you ever bit into a donut at least three times until you found a small amount of filling? Not here! This donut was oozing with Bavarian deliciousness from start to end!
There are many items carried by this hidden wonder and if the donuts are any indication, they will all lead to savory or sweet parties with your tastebuds. If you happen to find yourself traveling on Old Philadelphia Pike, look for the Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Café. You won't be disappointed!
