Sunday lunches always feel a bit different for me. Weekdays are all about routine, quick decisions, familiar stalls, “just eat and go” vibes. But today, I wanted a tiny food adventure, the kind that comes with a change of scenery, a slower pace, and the feeling that I’m actually living my day instead of rushing through it. So I headed to the Springleaf area for a nature park visit, and honestly, it was such a good call.

Springleaf is one of those places that makes you forget you’re still in Singapore. The air feels fresher, the trees make the world look softer, and even your brain seems to breathe a bit easier. I like having a spot like this to run to whenever city life starts feeling a little too loud. Nature first, then food, balance, right? At least that’s what I tell myself LOL.

Of course, the main mission wasn’t just the park. The real highlight was lunch at 928 Ngee Fou (Hakka) Ampang Yong Tou Fou, my repeat-visit, never-boring comfort meal. I’ve said it before, I really like their Yong Tau Foo recipe because it hits this sweet spot of being both delicious and “healthy enough” that I don’t need to feel guilty about it.

One thing I appreciate about Ngee Fou is their topping selection. It’s not the kind of Yong Tau Foo stall that shows you three times the variety, and then you’re stuck staring at items you don’t even want. Here, it feels like they already curated the best options, like they’re saying, don’t worry, we got you. And honestly, I’m totally okay with that. Less decision-making, more eating LOL.

I ordered the default mix of toppings, which basically means give me everything that makes this plate what it is. No swaps, no special requests, no “can change this for that.” I just wanted the full experience.
When the plate arrived, I was immediately happy because the greens were super generous. The leafy vegetables weren’t just a decoration on the side, they were a real part of the meal. Big, glossy, and soaked with that savory sauce that makes rice taste like it’s been upgraded. Fiber for a week? Maybe not, but let me believe in my own health fantasy for a moment hehe.

And then you’ve got the mix of textures, the tofu-based items that feel comforting and soft, plus the crispy pieces that add crunch and make every bite more interesting. I also picked up the chilli sauce. I don’t really need chilli, but chilli makes things better. It’s like adding a little exclamation mark to the meal.
The whole set cost SGD 7.70, and that includes a bowl of rice and the sauce. For something this satisfying, I think it’s solid value, especially when it leaves you full but not sluggish. This is the kind of lunch that feels like a reward without being sinful, my Sunday win LOL.

After lunch, I continued the adventure with a very important second mission, snacks for Netflix. I went to the mall and grabbed pancakes from Munchi. I chose peanut and hazelnut because I wanted something nutty, cozy, and easy to snack on. Then I topped it off with a green tea drink from Sharetea because they had a buy one take one promo, and you know I’m not walking away from a deal like that.

Overall, today’s little food adventure was simple, satisfying, and exactly what I needed. Nature, a dependable Yong Tau Foo plate, and snacks lined up for a chill night, this is my kind of Sunday. And yes, I’ll definitely be back at Ngee Fou again when the craving returns, which, let’s be real, won’t take long.
