In this 467th edition, we are all about the hops.

I am pivoting to the Shorty of the Week as I found another fantastic, limited run craft beer available in the rarer 355ml cans! I have enjoyed every beer from Bandit Brewery so I expoected this one to be another great one. Especially excited for the Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy hops which are the ones we use ion the IPA we brew! This was the perfect beer as far as I am concerned. Hazy, sweel, bold and tropical are what I am after in a NEIPA and I almost wished this was a full pint can by the time I got to the bottom of it.

Another nice one from Bandit and we agree on the selection of hops!

Badlands Select!
I have only recently discovered Badlands Brewing Company through the new local beer shop. I have featured them in recent #beersaturday editions because I keep going back looking for more and discovering new beers....not just IPAs!
This is a very interesting series to me as I am constantly alternating the hops in the beer we brew, looking for the best combination. So, a whole series of single hop IPAs from a brewery I really enjoy gives me the perfect opportunity to appreciate each for their own flavour.

You can see the beer is hazy and yellow which we aim for and the ABV is 6.5% which is pretty much the target of our IPAs. I am quite familiar with many of the hops like Mocais, Citra, Galaxy, and the like. We have started including Nelson Sauvin for its tart fruitiness but there are a bunch of New Zealand hops that are becoming the rage.
Nectaron is one I have tasted in a few recent IPAs but I wasn't sure exactly what brings to an IPA with other similar tropical fruit and citrus notes. Tasting this one showed me exactly what Nectaron does when you use it as the flavour, bittering and hopstand parts of the brewing cycle. Massive body and bold tropical citrus blast with a substantial dry bitterness at the end of each sip. Damn good beer even if it wasn't consumed for educatiuonal purposes!
I must say my favourite of the lot was probably the Mosaic or Galaxy but nectaron is solid too. I especially enjoyed the description of not only the hop, but the different harvest and reasoning behind selecting this particular hop!

#BEERSaturday!
I gotta admit it is true. Being a basic white guy may not be in vogue but I still give it my best effort.
Now it is time for you to join me, @detlev , and these other beerologists because there is always room for more beer bloggers at the Beer Saturday gathering. Whether you perfer the Hive Blog front end or using @peakd, your links are www.peakd.com/@detlev/beersaturday-467 | new.hive.blog/@detlev/beersaturday-467 to @detlev's post this week and I would encourage you to create a beer post of your own to join the fun. As many hops as you can handle!
