It is #BeerSaturday time of week again like it has been for just over 9 years! I can't find @detlev's weekly contest post but that might be because he is adventuring in Egypt right now. Beer has to be poured though so here we go!
This week, I am returning from an adventure of my own with a week and a half at the cottage and you know beer was involved!

First, the Pint of the Week! I enjoyed it before heading to the cottage at local craft beer veterans www.blackswanbrewing.ca which has been serving up pints for over 12 years. The occasion was a friend of mine taking a shift on the weekend and I was pleased to find their standard Porter not only on tap, but on Nitro! So much smoother and creamier when not pushed with Co2 and you can almost taste those tiny bubbles just looking at the marvel.
Pints in the tap room at your local craft brewery keep you coming back.

Cottage Beers!
I promise I will share a little more of our cottage adventurte this summer but this picture of my office for the day will give you a hint. Coffee to start then draft beer poured from the jockey box full of ice the rest of the day. Man I could get used to this!

One morning, the weather didn't look so much like playing outdoors or swimming in the lake with the cool sprinkles from an overcast sky. This looks like a day to tour a couple of the local cottage craft breweries!

Boshkung Brewing!
Folks who joined me last year might remember Boshkung Brewing as my favourite in the region. A modest tap room with a spwawling outdoor patio hints at how busy this place is in the summer and winter seasons. Might as well stop in for a snack and a hang!

I love the simple logo with the cottagy paddle. This pair of frosty ones consist of their light lager and Blairhampton Triangle NEIPA Even on a cool drizzly day, a refreshing treat!

The covered patio was neat too! Open air wuth the flags fluttering and an ancient canoe up in the rafters.

Haliburton Highlands Brewing
Our next stop was a 15 minute drive north to Haliburton Highlands Brewing Funny I didn't take a picture of the front of the brewery but the parking lot was jammed. Inside, then outside again, there was an afternoon concert going on in the beer garden! No seats available so we just picked up a few from the fridge to take back to the cottage.

With our own IPA on tap on the deck, we opted for some lighter lawnmower beer in the form of their Northern Light Lager. Not fantastic but solid and crushable like I find most of their beer. I wouldn't make a special trip here for the beer but adding them to a circuit of the regional brerweries is definitely warranted.

Cheers from the Highlands!
I can still almost taste the brews and fresh air up north as I have returned home. As stated earlier, I will put a proper story together on the whole trip but it was definitely made more cottagy with the variety of beer we were blessed with.
Thanks for joining me on this north country tour and keep an eye out for the whole story maybe later this week.

#BEERSaturday!
At the cottage? Definitely fat kid on a seesaw time with the ber to water ratio!
Now it is time for you to join me, @detlev , and these other beerologists because as there is always room for more beer bloggers at the Beer Saturday gathering. No need to have a @detlev #beersaturday prompt to enjoy some frothy ones so be sure to post yours with the #beersaturday tag and I will take some time to bless it with my massive 100% upvote! ;)
