#Beerologist may be a made up title but I sure lean into it with my enjoyment of craft beers and weekly blog. If you are the same, then #beersaturday by our friend @detlev may be the place for you! So glad to have found a home with beer drinkers across the world on my favourite blockchain.
For week 408, I am sharing a couple big city beers enjoyed over an epic weekend of hockey and music that I really owe you a post on this week.

The Pint O the Week is usually a nice draft, enjoyed out on the town in a social setting, enjoying out community with some suds. This time, our head brewer is back from a 3-week European vacation so I dropped by to welcome him home. While there, it would be rude not to enjoy a pint so I poured myself a frosty one from the 7% ABV New England IPA which is from 3 batches ago. A couple months in the keg and it is still fresh & delicious though not as hazy as it was in the beginning as the wheat must have settled.
Speaking of vacations and brewing, 3 weeks away means we have 3 batches of Amber Ale, Golden ale and IPA ready to come off fermentation and into kegs for drinking. While kegging the amber, we brewed up another batch so that we could reuse some of the yeast and culture from the current batch. This is the spent grains for the amber where you can see some of the darker Crystal malts we mix in with the 2-Row for a bit more maltiness.

Henderson IPA
When in Rome... Hanging out in the big city, I make sure to grab a few fresh pints from the local breweries. It is even better when someone else stocks the fridge for me in return for taking care of their dog for a couple days! That is the case with this IPA from solid brewery Henderson Brewing Co.
I remember when Pearson Express IPA was called UPA for Union Pearson Ale in honour of the train that runs from Union Station to Pearson Airport. The 6.5% ABV was intentional as the Pearson Express had its last stop of the day beside Henderson at 6:50. A neat story they seem to have stripped from the can and website description. Still a really nice beer with a good mix of sweet and dry/hoppy that I just love.

Greenwood IPA!
This is another gifted beer from the weekend I found in my hockey bag. The teams exchange gifts before every game and our last opponents were kind enough to gift us with a 6-pack from the righteous Left Field Brewery who are apparently having website issues. I have featured this one as a Shorty of the Week in the past but it has been a coon's age so I was excited to have a full pint.
Greenwood IPA weighs in at 6.3% abv typical to a hazy New England so I was expecting that fruity tropical taste. I was a little shocked at how bitter it was initially, probably because I had enjoyed a sweeter IPA just before it. As the point went along, my palate seemed to acclimatize to the bold mix of Citra, Simcoe, Centennial and Summer hops and the distinct taste of the Vermont yeast really rounded this into a serous beer. I love that they named this beer after the neighbourhoor the brewery is in and have kept it as a core offering I sometimes see on the shelves a couple hours away. Awesome big city IPA!
