The ,,Tunnel of Love,, the explosion of color on the banks of the Bega in Timisoara(RO)

Hello travelers

In Romania spring makes its presence felt in different ways but the most important is that nature is slowly coming back to life.

In the last few days we've had a mix of bad and nice weather (here I mean we've had rain showers, but also sunny spells), so I've had some time to spend on my phone, in the last few days I've had hundreds of pictures of Timisoara.

What can be so special about this city?

It is a historic city with historic buildings, but it also has a great advantage having the Bega canal, that is the Bega river passes through the city center, in recent years on this canal has developed an interesting mode of public transportation, if you are in Timisoara and want to have a different kind of trip you can opt for a boat trip on the Bega river (some time ago I had this experience here in the center of Timisoara and if you want to see it you can find it here).

But that's not what today's blog is about, also there online I saw a lot of news about the "Tunnel of Love" in Timisoara, including on TV I saw many reports with this place, the pictures of this Tunnel of Love looked like a fairy tale, and you know how I am, I really want to see if reality is the same as what I saw on TV.

So, a few days after I saw the information about this Tunnel of Love, I got in the car and set off for Timisoara, a drive of about an hour and a quarter (now it depends on how crowded the city is, as we are going right in the center of Timisoara).

I was very lucky that I didn't look very hard for a parking place for my car, I even found one very close to this Tunnel of Love.

I was so anxious, but also curious to see how it is in reality, but by then, after a few steps from where we left the car, we saw that we were close to a station where we could take the boat for a ride on the Bega river, unfortunately the boats were very crowded, so we decided to try later.

To get to the tunnel of love we had to cross the Mihai Viteazul bridge and after not five minutes we see in front of us this so-called tunnel of love.

What is this tunnel of love?

20250323_151936.jpg

The Tunnel of Love is actually a not very wide sidewalk with a bike path next to it that stretches along the Bega river and on the edges of the sidewalk are planted hundreds of ornamental trees, initially I thought they were Japanese cherry trees, but they are not, they are a very interesting kind of ornamental trees.

You can see that this place was massively publicized, there were so many people that I could hardly take a few pictures, but no picture without someone appearing in it, hehe.

I am very excited about what I found here, so much pink color, but I can't even describe how beautiful it smelled here (I think there were magnolias around), everyone was happy to be here (the beauty of this place is temporary, it only lasts a few days), some of the young people were even sitting on the grass for a coffee, a true spectacle of nature.

After about half an hour spent in this tunnel of love we chose to take a few steps on the streets in the center of Timisoara, so we saw the city hall building and the Banatul Philharmonic (a very important building) and then we stopped a little bit in the Rozelor Park.

It is impossible not to fall in love in the tunnel, it highlights those beautiful and fascinating trees, it is impossible not to get lost in its beautiful color, having a walk through it, for sure is a great experience.

That's right, even if it was very crowded we managed to enjoy this place, its color and especially the smell of flowers, something that I can not describe in words.
Thank you so much for your comment and have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Arriving at the tunnel of love, beautiful scenery immediately greets you, this place is so beautiful and real. Seeing the beautiful scenery while smelling several types of flowers is truly a very happy thing. Of course this place is very beautiful my friend

Thanks for your comment left here, have a wonderful Sunday.

Beautiful cherry blossom trees that brighten up the place. Also love how the subtle pink colors give beauty to the pathway. The lake cruise seems interesting to do when you're at this place. There are some historic statues and buildings within this area.

Timisoara is a historical city, from here in 1989 started the revolution in Romania, with the help of a local guide you can learn interesting things about this city.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Lovely place so much Japan style by the way the tunnel of love it's very romantic with all those blossoms a perfect place for a walk date 🌹🌹

First of all, thank you for stopping by and then you're right, it's a bit like Japanese cherry trees, I'm a bit to blame, if I could have come here a day or two earlier, this tunnel of love would have been even more spectacular.

Have a wonderful week ahead!
