Every day you learn something new. Today, for example, for the first time I had the experience of cycling twice to the same place, which was not close by, by the way. It is 9 km one way (from 100 y Boyeros to very close to Terminal 2 of José Martí Airport), or 9+9 km because you have to count the return trip.
I got up at 6 am. I left my house at 8:15 and at 9 o'clock sharp, just as I agreed with my dentist, I was at the dentist's office. However, a shortfall in the national power system caused some circuits to trip and it just so happened that the neighbourhood was blacked out.
So I waited until 10:30 or so to see if the service would be restored and also because I had a toothache. In the early hours of the morning I slept badly, the acetaminophen I took barely gave me any relief... and well... I was hoping to resolve that issue. The doctor was very saddened by the situation, imagine that. I told him that it wasn't his fault and went home, but not before asking him that if they restored the electricity, he should call me without hesitation so that I could return.

And so it was that at 10:54 I arrived home, I had a snack because cycling always makes you hungry and I had only had coffee, I didn't have breakfast before leaving (this is wrong, I know)... and after chewing the pain grew worse. I couldn't stay in one place... I made salt water mouthfuls, put my head against the wall and begged for mercy... I thought with great sadness about the people who may be suffering from this pain and don't know how to solve it. You can't imagine how many things I thought at once... I breathed. I went to bed, got up and so at 12:30 the doctor told me that they had electricity.
(The landscape you see above made me stop when I was returning home without having solved the problem... I felt sad, in pain, but somehow I also felt good that I had made it to that place on my own. I have never gone there alone)
I stopped later for this other picture though.
And even though the doctor's call for me to return had not yet been made, I thought I should not give up hope.
...
The dentist's chair greeted me at 1:20 p.m. I think I behaved more or less well. Not quite... but they say there are worse patients.
The restoration couldn't be done because I was in pain so I have a band-aid, a treatment until next Thursday. I left there at 2:18... and although I had taken my camera with me to take some pictures of planes, I didn't really feel up to it and just wanted to get home for good. The odometer read this:

And I remember that in my previous post in this community it had stood at 44.1. This gives a total of 35.2 km that I cycled today.
By the way, some minutes ago I measured the length of the circumference of my wheel from the axle to the ground and I got 340 mm. I multiplied it by two and then by the value of pi (3.1416). All this to enter the correct value into the computer. I had not set it correctly... I think now the distance and odometer will give more accurate values.
As for the toothache, I feel better now... I still have a bit of sensitivity there, but it should improve in the next few days and on Thursday the tooth can be restored.
😉
That's the road leading to Terminal 2... I don't have an explanation for those fumes, or those fires.
