I could wish for many things, but I think I no longer need to ask for some of them; I always have them with me. The explanation is simple: I carry with me one of my most precious weapons - my senses, so I can reach the wonders of the world that surrounds us easily. We all do that, I am sure you do the same. You see, hear, smell, taste, or feel on your skin the triggers that transform themselves into joy and happy moments.
Just look at the sea. Doesn't that mixed colour of the sea bring you sparkling, summer vibes? For me, it did. And I also felt the warm caresses of the water, heard the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks, smelled the scent of the sea grass and algae, and tasted the salt while swimming in this sea this afternoon.

It is the same sea, the Mediterranean, so we could say that it is nothing new for me. However, the beach is a novelty for us, La Mata Beach. It forms part of the town of Torrevieja, which we visited once (just the old town) and one lake close to it, but we have never been to this beach to take a bath and swim.

We came here in the early afternoon, after spending our morning and midday at Embalse de la Pedrera (La Pedrera Water Reservoir). From there, I will have a different story. Now, this beach has stolen the spotlight for this Wednesday walk.
La Mata Beach consists of a cool mix of soft sand and rocks with algae on the seashore. Safe for small children (of course, the small ones should never be left without their parents' supervision) but a joy for older ones too, like me. 😆

I have found a very nice seashell!! 😍 It will be added to a little collection of pebbles that live on the glass shelves in the piano room, as a tangible reminder of a joyful afternoon. My skin is also a reminder of this afternoon and a day spent outside, in the sun... 😂

On the other hand, the footprints impressed in the sand were erased in an instant; they sank into the wet sand and were carried away by the gentle touch of the sea. The waves have their own wish and can make the footprints ephemeral if they want it.

Luckily, this castle was built a little further out of the reach of the waves, so it remained intact during our stay. Tomorrow will be a new day for this beach; new footprints will be left there and erased, and perhaps this castle will be destroyed and new ones built. I won't be able to check it out tomorrow, but if any of you can, please awaken your senses and enjoy the walk on this soft sand and warm, shallow water. 🌊
